Turkey Day Hacks
Thanksgiving is around the corner and making it run smoothly and seamless is always the goal. I’ve rounded up some tips and tricks to make the most of the day so you can enjoy making memories with your loved ones! I even included some fun ideas to the kiddos involved. Enjoy!
Prep ahead of time
- Host a potluck dinner. If your life is extra busy (new baby, extra guests, etc) Ask guests to bring a dish.
- Don’t be afraid to cheat and use store bought appetizers, sides, desserts
- Ask guests to bring whatever they need to make it “Thanksgiving” for them.
- Make the beds, you never who will be putting a baby down for a nap or needs a space to take a phone call.
- Take it to the next level with fancy touches, flowers in bathroom, sparkling wineglasses, and flickering candles. Totally distracts guests from any problem areas in your home.
How to make the day Kid friendly
- Have the kiddos make a simple dessert the day before. They will feel prideful and that they helped make the meal.
- Use craft wrapping paper (can find at Target) tape down at the kids table, leave crayons out for drawing while final meal prep goes on.
- Ask kids to help make the place cards. Keeps them busy while host finishes setting the table. Then everyone knows where to sit!
- Include fun games or drawings that the kids can “own”. Let them ask guests to complete a scavenger hunt or make football predictions. Kids can award the winners.
Lastly, How to make the day frazzle free
- Make a complete list of all your day of to do’s including a time table, include all the small details. When other guests ask to help you can outsource.
- Keep fido upstairs. One less thing to worry about and keep away from any non-dog lovers.
- Enjoy the day! If something doesn’t go as planned your guests won’t know the difference. All that they will remember is the time spent together.
