Best ways to display family photos in your home
Decide on a color or content theme
To keep photos looking cohesive stick to a consistent theme. Use black and white photos, all professional portraits or candid iphone pictures.
Print your images
If you are printing photos our for daycare or school stick to the quick printers at Target or CVS. A better quick option is using Costco printers. If you are hanging these in your home using a professional-grade online lab like MPix and Adoramapix is the way to go. These labs prints are archival and use acid free materials to ensure the color quality lasts for years.
Frames
Use mats when hanging frames on the wall. The oversize of the frame and white space of the mat gives your wall high impact. Table top frames are smaller in scale and don’t give the impact of a mat. Deciding on the type of frame depends on the type of photos you plan to use. Also if you plan to hang multiple photos there is no need to stick to one frame material, but do stick to similar feels. Same materials but various finishes or shapes works best.
Display
Display your family photos in a non-prominent area that may be more personal, like a bedroom, family room, or a hallway. The center of your groups of frames should always be at eye level. Experts say this around 4 feet 9 inches from the ground and 8 inches up from furniture pieces like a sofa. If displaying on a mantle go the “simple is more” route. Use an odd amount of frames and add a personal item to add a personal touch.
