Life Lately {New Mom edition}
So here we are a handful of weeks since we welcomed our 2nd little lady. We keep trying to settle into a good routine and rhythm for our family. But the one thing I’ve learned is that newborns are unpredictable. We have been following her lead and trying to go with the flow. I am enjoying and cherishing the time we have home together during my maternity leave. I know I will never get these sweet bonding moments of just the two of us again.
Most days for us include preschool dropoff, a doctors/dentist/vet appointment for someone in the family, prepping/pumping to feed, feed baby (and hopefully myself at some point), NAP, repeat until preschool pick up. Somewhere in there try to do dishes, laundry and cleaning. I started a to-do list of things to do while on maternity leave. HAHA that was a joke. There is no time for that, main to -do is keep baby and mom happy and fed π I’ve accepted to enjoy each day and whatever gets done gets done.
Our little peanut was born 2 weeks early and breech. We had to deal with jaundice the first week she was home. She had to use a home medical device (bilirubin blanket) to correct her red blood cell levels. It was a photo therapy blanket so it was painless and more of a nuisance than anything. Luckily after a week her yellow skin cleared up and she was cleared from jaundice. YAY ! Since she was born breech we also had to have a ultrasound on her hip to see if they had developed properly. We found out her left hip has hip dysplasia andΒ she has to wear this “foam diaper” brace for the next 6 weeks to help develop and set the hip properly. It’s hard to see her wearing it but she is a trooper. It’s been harder on me than her. I keep reminding myself that its better to take care of it now instead of down the road when is she walking.
Since our sweet Julia has joined our family back in April we have traveled to the NC mountains and the SC beaches. Her and her big sister are awesome travelers and love packing up and hitting the road. We all are enjoying the time together as a family and couldn’t be happier to have her here. Her big sister LOVES her and is adjusting wonderfully.I think the anticipation of her sister’s arrival was harder for her than once her sister arrived. She loves to love on her and happy to share to me. I was really nervous that she would have jealously issues. She really surprised me π So in a nutshell life is good. And hopefully one day soon I will get a full nights rest. Until then we will keep taking it day by day π
