Hello 2017
January is here and bring another new year of fresh starts and new chances! I love the chance to wipe the slate clean and set new goals for the upcoming year. Putting out in the university my professional and personal dreams and aspirations for the upcoming year. Let’s do this ya’ll!!
Being the Boss Lady
2016 was a great year of professional growth for me! I busted my butt at trying to do the best businesses practices. I learned how to set up a website and attempted to keep it running smoothly, made lots of new friends on my Facebook and Instagram accounts. The creative community has been so open and willing to help and share their struggles and triumphs its been amazing to “follow” and get to know this group of talented people! I’ve virtually met some people who I share the motto of “community over competition” with and we all grow together. So thank you other boss ladies and working mamas who are up late at night, keep pushing themselves and get stuff done! I applaud you and sincerely value your daily encouragement! The past year I took numerous workshops on how to socially expand my brand, further my technical skills, and build a consistent brand. Seriously the educators in the creative field are fantastic and thrive seeing their students succeed. I hope to learn even more this year. I just purchased an amazing bundle with tons of webinars from the top experts in every aspect of running a photography business. I AM PUMPED to dive in and learn even more !!
For 2017 I’m planning on being consistent on setting my daily, weekly, and long term goals. Consistency and planning ahead has always been hard for me. Life loves to throw me curve balls and sometimes I have to put my brand on the back burner. I vow to you all to start sharing some pieces of my life along with some helpful tip to help yours! I want to share my mommy hacks and photog tips. I know you have a phone that takes pics and videos, and most probably have a nice DSLR camera sitting around. I know you really WANT to take those great candid and pretty posed pictures of your kiddos. So let me help! Be on the look out for a weekly series on tips and tricks on how to be your own photog at home 🙂 I’ve bought this super cute Sugar Paper Planner (see below) and intent to really dig into planning out all my branding and marketing. I can’t wait to see my brand grow and hopefully meet and succeed all the hopes and dreams I have for it! Also fun tidbit about me…. I’ve carried an actual planner around in my purse for years. No idea how people do it on their phones, I’m a pencil to paper kind of gal! I usually make and maintain all our family plans so its the ONLY way I can stay sane!!! My friends all poke fun at me, but without I feel totally lost 🙂
Mama Bear
Now the other half me is a wife and a mother. Just when we were in a groove and good routine as husband and wife we welcomed our little one 2 years ago. Good bye routine and hello to devoting yourself completely to a little human being. 2016 I was busy, really busy. My business was taking off and my little one was exploring the world. She started walking and talking and it was a joy to watch her become more and more independent. I began to neglected myself. So here I go again putting it out into the universe that I resolve to take better self care of myself. More sleep, more green foods, more water, and more moving and grooving! Only 24 days into 2017 and I can already see a difference in my mood, patience, and overall energy. I may not be able to workout every night or eat right for every meal but gosh darn it I’m trying! I now get excited to meal prep for the week. I know I am eating the right things and that my family is as well. Family dinners (most) are no longer a scramble to get something on the table. I’ve always believed I need to care of myself in order to take care of those.
So yes there may be some bumps in the road or detours but I’m feeling hopeful, inspired and looking forward to a great 2017! Our family has some big exciting plans. This little photog company cant wait to work with all you beautiful families 🙂
XOXO, Kelly
